Know What Doesn’t Go in the Can: A Quick Guide from DM Trash

Keeping trash service running smoothly starts with knowing what can – and cannot – go into your DM Trash can.

Most everyday household trash is straightforward, but some materials can damage equipment, create safety hazards for our crew, or require special disposal. When in doubt, it’s always better to ask before putting something questionable in your can.

Please Keep These Items Out of Your Trash

Wood
Boards, plywood, pallets, fence posts and similar wood materials should not be placed in your regular trash can.

Concrete, Blocks and Bricks
Concrete, bricks, cinder blocks, pavers and similar heavy materials can damage trash equipment and are not accepted in regular curbside trash.

Paint and Liquid Materials
Paint cans, stain, varnish and other liquid materials should be kept out of your trash.

Batteries
Car, truck, marine, lithium and other batteries should never be placed in your regular trash can.

Car Parts
Engine parts, exhaust components, metal scraps and other vehicle parts are not accepted as regular household trash.

Tires
Tires of any kind should be kept out of your trash can.

Appliances
Refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, air-conditioning units, microwaves and similar appliances require a different disposal solution.

When in Doubt, Leave It Out

These items can damage our trucks, create hazards for our team and may result in additional disposal costs. A quick call or text can save everyone a lot of trouble.

If you’re not sure whether we can take something, call or text DM Trash at 602-622-0023. We’ll help you figure out the right way to handle it.

Thanks for helping us keep our trucks running and our community clean and safe.
